4 Common Can-Am Outlander 570 Problems And Solutions

1. The Vehicle Temperature Gets Too High

Unfortunately, the Can-Am Outlander 570 is not immune to the most common quad problem; overheating. The heat can rise beyond your comfort zone and compel you to abandon your offroading adventures way before you had intended to. The left side of the vehicle is reported to be more susceptible to overheating. 

How hot are we talking about? According to some frustrated Outlander 570 owners on Can-Am forums, the heat can rise as high as 150°F. Some have also reported that the overheating gets to its worst stage when the quad operates at low speeds for a long time. What can you do to remedy this?

Solution

For the left leg heating issue, the best solution can be an exhaust pipe wrap. We recommend using cast vinyl to wrap the exhaust system. The heat will not be able to penetrate a double wrap coating and get to your leg when you ride the quad. This is a simple modification you can do without breaking the bank. 

Alternatively, you can install a heat shield on your Outlander 570. This nifty addition can block 70% of the heat emanating from the exhaust pipes. Heat shields do a better job in heat insulation than wraps, and they are also quite easy to put on. That said, they will cost you more than exhaust wraps.

We also advise you to take a look at the radiator. Heat shields and exhaust wraps will stop the heat from coming out. But you would not want the engine to be excessively hot for extended periods. It will damage the engine over time. Therefore, you should check the radiator and make sure it’s working perfectly to keep the engine temperature in check.

The radiator is responsible for keeping the engine temperature in check. If it doesn’t work properly the fuel temperature and the engine temperature will continue to rise. This will lead to several performance issues. Installing exhaust wraps or heat shields without fixing the faulty radiator will solve only half of your problems. 

2. Starting Problem

Now, let’s talk about the other extremity in the thermometer. The sweltering heat is not the only enemy of your Outlander 570 engine; it could struggle when the mercury flirts with the 32°F mark or plunges below that level. In the winter season, your Outlander 570 engine could struggle to fire up. So, you might need to work pretty hard to get it going.

Starting problems are not necessarily a winter-only hindrance. If you have battery and ignition problems, your Outlander 570 will be reluctant to turn over regardless of the winter condition. Yes, it will get worse when the temperatures drop, but things won’t get much better when the sun comes out if you don’t address the underlying issues. 

Solution

In the winter, there is a greater risk of water entering the gas tank. In colder months, the water may separate from the fuel or come into contact with it. It’s possible that the contaminated gasoline will turn into a thick lump that will clog up the engine and the fuel tank. Add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel emulsification.

The battery is also likely to struggle in such low temperatures. So, check the battery and make sure it’s not dead. Even if the battery still has some juice left in it, you might consider changing it if you notice a sizable performance drop in the winter. Check with a multimeter and if you get a reading below 12V, dispose of the battery and get a new one.

The ignition switch might also wear off. Check the ignition system to make sure it’s functioning properly. Don’t forget about the spark plugs. If they have become dirty or damaged, they will not be able to create spark in the engine. Even if they do, it will take way too much time. So, you should examine the spark plugs if you are facing starting problems in your Outlander 570.

3. Underperforming Tires

Can-Am Outlander 570 is a fabulous quad bike, but its stock tires need to be much better. The Outlander 570 tires are notoriously prone to puncturing. Can-Am has used light rubber for tire construction. The sidewalls are pretty substandard and susceptible to tearing. We can’t say you can rely on these tires when exploring the wilderness.

Solution

The solution is pretty obvious. Ditch your old tires and buy aftermarket ones. Do some research to get the best 28-inch tires in the market within your budget. Look for high-quality material with superior weather resistance and terrain tolerance. The factory tires are a massive letdown. You will never get to enjoy this vehicle in its full glory if you stick with the original tires. 

4. Transmission Problems

Some 2017 edition Can-Am Outlanders were marketed with faulty steering shafts. Soon reports of broken shafts became common in the Outlander 570 community. Thankfully, Can-Am detected the fault early on and advised the buyers to contact nearby authorized dealer shops to get their steering shafts checked for free.

Solution

If you have been having transmission problems, you should have your steering shaft checked. Don’t attempt to repair a faulty steering shaft by yourself.  Take it to an authorized shop.
